Everybody's shouting at the TV tonight,
Painted faces glowing in the stadium light.
They're counting every goal, every pass, every play,
While I'm thinking how we all just learned to live this way. They're waving all their flags, singing loud in the rain,
Turning every small defeat into somebody’s pain.
I try to understand the rules that they defend,
But all I see is rivals where there could be friends. They're living for the World Cup fever,
I'm searching for a another receiver.
Maybe my signal crossed the sky,
Maybe that's the reason why.I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
My imagination's bright and radiant.
Everybody's watching champions tonight,
While I'm questioning what we call “right.”I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
Sailing past the norms of competition on the stadium.
Everybody's chasing who will win once more,
While I'm asking what we're fighting for.The neighbors scream with every near-miss shot,
They know every player and the skills they've got.
I see the pressure building in each face they wear,
Like winning is the only way to prove you’re there. They ask me who will win and lift the golden prize,
I ask why we divide ourselves with cheering cries.
They laugh it off and shake their heads a bit,
Like cooperation and the world will never fit. They're living for the World Cup fever,
I'm searching for a another receiver.
Maybe my signal crossed the sky,
Maybe that's the reason why.I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
My imagination's bright and radiant.
Everybody's watching champions tonight,
While I'm questioning what we call “right.”I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
Sailing past the norms of competition on the stadium.
Everybody's chasing who will win once more,
While I'm asking what we're fighting for.Maybe life was never meant to be a fight,
A constant race to prove who’s wrong or right.
Maybe we were meant to build, not break,
To lift each other with every step we take.If every win creates a loss somewhere,
Then maybe winning needs more care.
Maybe every crowd and every nation,
Needs a spark of alien imagination.I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
My imagination's bright and radiant.
Let the whole world cheer for victory tonight,
I'll be searching for a different kind of light.I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
Sailing past the norms of competition on the stadium.
They can chase the trophy shining bright and high,
I'll be dreaming of a way we unify.I'm an alien, I'm a little alien,
Looking on this strange, pulling ball, comedians.
While the world keeps counting who will win or fall,
I'm choosing to not to compete at all.
