80s soul vibes for the Friday ๐ Wrote the track in Logic last year, and added Udio for vocals and guitar, much fun https://soundcloud.com/dharmaone/timeless
I'm floored with Udio's (music genAI from a couple of ex-Deepmind folks) new capabilities, it's going from a toy to something genuinely useful very fast. Before it was ok for a bit of fun or background video music, but it's becoming a useful idea generation tool/cowriter now.You can now upload your own track you made in a DAW, and prompt it to generate vocals on top, or continue the track in any kind of direction. Then you can take that and run it through Logic's stem separator to get the separate vocal track.I gave it an old school jungle track I had started last year, and we made these vocals together with it on top. It understands the chord progression, rhythm from my track, and the vibe I'm asking it to go for with the vocals (after multiple takes of promption) - really starting to feel like a writing partner, and it's only going to get better. Obv no realtime human connection like you would have with other humans in a studio, but damn... I didn't expect it to be this good, feels like its starting to "understand" music at a fairly deep level, and is capable of surprising creativity. Lee Sedol moment for me.https://soundcloud.com/dharmaone/bittersweet

Music recommendation of the weekOne of the most talented, elusive and prolific underground Finnish electronic music artists is Aleksi Perรคlรค. He used to release on Rephlex records, then got into a new cosmic tuning system called Colundi Sequence, "discovered" by Rephlex Records founder Grant Wilson-Claridge. The last couple of years Aleksi has been releasing an album a month on Spotify. Aleksi has no social media presence at all.""Grant has arrived at the frequencies, he's done the Colundi Sequence," Perรคlรค says. "128 frequencies. And I don't even know exactly how he's arrived at them, it's irrelevant to me. They were given to him, let's put it that way. But they are not forgetting the history of man and the history of different experiments. You can't deny that certain frequencies just feel better than others. They make you feel good or do good things to you. They help you grow or whatever. Or help you feel the love. They just work and I'm happy with that."It sounds a bit like a cult but with only 2 members - but hey the results seems to be working ๐ https://ra.co/features/2567The releases are hard to describe, based on the new tuning system, unlike anything else I've heard - think Steve Reich, microtonal music, Aphex Twin, Endel app - hypnotic live electronic jams, deep sub bass (he uses the SubPac wearable subwoofer), using a lot of Asian percussion and custom tuned electronic sounds - this one is perhaps the best one yethttps://open.spotify.com/album/2mhsvqPVLTJjcaU3Vemyx8?si=Qhpr47HkQ1CGGQhKHi5KvA
a lil sneak peek of new Hey designs simmering in the lab - overall UI cleanup, readability improvements, groups to help find topic specific content, a couple of new Open Actions (swaps in posts, rent your space...)Coming your way... after devs do something ๐
