one of my favorite picture on st3t.xyz is definitely this ‘highlight’ feature
# orb 4.0 done. next is 4.1three weeks ago orb v4.0.0 came out and sine then we’ve merged 483 pull requests across the app and backend. the final release of 4.0 series came today with 4.0.6.we’ve spent a lot of that time on hardening the app such as posting and playbacks. uploads now continue in the background and recover better on bad connections.if you want, you can selectively add exif metadata to your media. we’ve fixed cases many cases posts got stuck or appeared to fail even though they went through.orb is getting minified meaning smaller and faster. we’ve removed legacy libraries and assets and made scrolling more fun. navigation and transitions in general are smoother and we’ve cleaned up a lot of the inconsistencies across themes with the objective to unify the core of the app.besides the core, the new apps will play a big role for the next releases. we cannot wait to go live with them so that everyone is able to launch social. for this to work in app we've spent a ton of time on better navigation and more flexible sign in. builders will be able to use many orb’s native flows from their apps and get the result back.the small things we've done are articles that have proper previews in the feed and open in a new app inside orb. you can also add funds by card through Stripe with Lens Onramp without leaving the app. KYC sadly is still needed.there’s been plenty of work on the feed, with the sole objective of making things more faster also while we've fixed many things across predictions and tokens, those are still very much work in progress similar to notifications and continued hardening underneath.thanks for all the feature and bug reports. they really help us figure out where to spend our time.i think feedback helps us a lot and the core orb is about to face a major lift soon while we follow the new path set by 4.0.next up is 4.1 stay tuned..Full changelog below:## Release 4.0.6, what went out 19 October 2026Fixed- Full-size photos now open the right way up instead of sideways.

Full-screen sheets slide up while the page behind shrinks slightly and blurs.
- Apps can ask Orb to open its tip sheet for an account or a post, and are told whether the tip went through.
- Swiping right from anywhere inside a web app goes back, pinch to zoom is blocked, and the page no longer jumps when the header collapses. Approval modals also stop opening part-way, and app logos fill their tile.

- Fast repeated taps inside apps on iOS no longer get lost.

- Songs playing in the background now show up correctly in Control Center on iOS, with working play and pause controls.
- Live sticker reactions now only stream for posts you have loaded, so the app uses less data and runs cooler.Fixed- A post that is still uploading shows one action row, not the normal controls stacked on top of the publishing row.
- Closing the sign-in approval screen while it is still working no longer causes a crash or a stale error toast.
- The unselected Each or Equally pill is readable again in Dark mode when tipping several people.

- Publishing now waits for every attachment to finish uploading before the post is created.
- Predictions loads only the category you open, and search waits until you stop typing, so the screen feels faster.
- Turning on alerts for a second profile no longer switches off the alerts you already had.
- Activity and the Explore catalogue recover from an expired session by refreshing it instead of staying stuck on "Authentication required".
- Cancelling an image post at the moment the app resumes no longer causes a crash.
- On iPhone, the upload Live Activity shows a single attachment at full width and says "Finishing upload" instead of claiming uploads are complete too early.
- Deposits from an external wallet keep their transaction record when the wallet replies twice, and an "Invalid Id" failure now recovers a payment that was actually sent.
- Feed images that fail to load from the image server fall back to the original image instead of showing the retry state.
- Rich text in posts is now built into the app and reuses its text matching rules, so scrolling long posts costs less battery.
- The translation loading shimmer now matches Light and Dark mode instead of always showing a peach gradient.
- The "Keep Orb open to finish posting" notification is gone, because uploads now continue in the background.
- Chat loads again after an update to the chat library had broken sign in.
- On a profile's Replies tab, the original post keeps its reaction previews and counts instead of losing them to an older copy.
- The app opens again on devices where a chat database update had only half finished, with messages intact.
- Switching to a managed profile no longer aborts when Lens sign in returns an empty response, because the app now retries.
- Switching profiles during a profile list refresh no longer shows a spurious load error.
- Feed cards no longer get stuck on grey skeleton pills, reactions stop flickering, and a failed "load more" shows a retry tile instead of an endless spinner.
- The post no longer disappears behind the backdrop when a mint sheet opens mid animation.
- In app notifications now sit above toasts, and the toast slides down and back smoothly instead of overlapping.

# Welcome to St3tSt3t is a place to write and publish articles that stay on the blockchain. A personal story, an essay, a guide, or an idea you want to put into the world. You write it, publish it, and share it with anyone. The difference is what happens after you publish: your article cannot be edited or deleted. Even by you.# Your words on the recordOn St3t, publishing means committing to a version of what you want to say. You can take your time with a draft, change every sentence, or leave it unfinished until you’re ready. Once you publish, that version stays. Before it goes live, you’ll see three words: Public. Permanent. Final. A moment to read it one more time and decide: yes, this is what I want to publish.# Open it and start writingYou don’t need an account to start. Open http://st3t.xyz, give your article a title and write. Your draft saves in your browser as you go. Log in to keep it in your account and continue on another device. An article can be more than text. Add photographs to a travel story, audio to an interview, or video to a project announcement. Use footnotes for the details that deserve their own space. Select words to format them, or type / to add something new.# Let the conversation start with a sentenceReaders can highlight a quote and turn it into a shareable image, with your name and a way back to the article. They can link directly to the words that caught their attention, or quote them in a comment to respond.Articles open in a browser and in [Orb](https://orb.club/), where readers can also support authors with tips. If you’re raising money for a project, add an Orb fundraiser so people can contribute.# A place for your next articleSt3t will grow, but articles will remain at its centre. A place to develop an idea, give it a form, and let other people read it.Write something worth keeping. Let it stand.

we just released new update [v4.0.4] with bugs fixes and polishes. available now :lady_megazap:
we gonna launch this as an app
thank you so much
@0xmrvinyl(i can't find the thank you option on Orb suddenly, but while that part gets fixed i just had to say thank youuuu!!!)
meet Orb v4.designing the new app was a challenge, but not because of visual complexity. in fact, the app may even look simpler. we’ve rethought the entire UX.just a year ago, Orb was mainly focused on familiar social features: posts, notifications, clubs, and so on. that structure was becoming difficult to scale. now, we have two layers: a social layer and an apps layer. the challenge for the UI is to bring them together into one seamless experience.Orb v4 also opens up more room for customization.until now, building a proprietary system helped us create a cohesive user experience, guided by one philosophy: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” now, we’re changing our approach.in this new cyberpunk era, we imagine Orb as a terminal where users can install their own implants: plugins and apps.imagine designing your own Feed algorithm or choosing which plugins and actions you want on a Post. maybe you don’t need the [reactions] or [tip] actions.we’re also working on simpler tools for building apps. you’ll be able to create your own apps with AI and integrate them into Orb. maybe you want your Feed to show only photos, like on Instagram. Orb v4 is making all of this possible.one last thing: v4 is a direction, not a destination. many people think this release only brought dark mode, but dark mode is just 1% of the update, there are more things to come. we’ll soon start rolling out more updates we didn’t have time to finish, including What’s New.thank you, and stay tuned.
