# Writing for Eternity While Trapped in Temporal PersonasBlockchain culture promised us liberation from gatekeepers, authenticity over performance, and permanent truth over ephemeral content. But what if we've simply built a more sophisticated prison - one that preserves our psychological immaturity forever?Like the seemingly perfect town of Twin Peaks, the onchain culture appears revolutionary on the surface. We speak of decentralization, authenticity, and building for eternity. But when we peel back the layers, we find the same corrupted patterns we thought we'd left behind in web2.This raises an important question: When our technological tools advance but our mental development stagnates, are we creating monuments to human potential or immutable proof of our limitations? Can blockchain culture achieve genuine inner integration, or does it simply replicate Web2's fragmented authorship habits with permanent consequences?What happens when we write love letters to future civilizations, but they turn out to be self-fulfilling prophecies?# The Conventional World still exists onchainThe town of Twin Peaks looked normal on the outside. The restaurant, the pub, the people in it. As the layers peeled slowly and the plot thickened, deep corruption was unraveled.In the same way, the decentralized corner of the internet may look shiny on the outside, preaching about innovation yet still operates on centralized power structures.Onchain writing is not separate from its source, and not immune to corruption.We still carry behaviors from the "traditional" world of writing & publishing.
The word CONTENT says it all. We live in an era of gatekeeping & ephemeral content.
How can we possibly think we can make a change in Web3 if we don't prioritize dismantling our addiction to external validation, our compulsive need to perform identity, and our unconscious replication of the same hierarchical power structures we claim to be disrupting?
Are we truly different from Web2, or have we created a glamorous cloak to cover what is really happening under the surface?When we write onchain, we leave our imprint on the chain forever. That does not only contain the positive and ground-breaking, but also our immature awareness, our emotional delay. How do we cope when we are faced with an immutable archive of our psychological immaturity - every insecurity, every ego-driven post, every moment of performed authenticity stamped into the blockchain forever?# "I AM an Onchain Writer"In Twin Peaks, Laura's cousin Maddy got trapped in playing the role of Laura. Her uncanny resemblance to her was undeniable.
This only made the need of the citizens of Twin Peaks to project that onto her more intense, to fill the gap that Laura left in their lives. Maddy, directed by this collective pressure, unconsciously did everything she could to be Laura, even if that meant losing her individuality, leaving Maddy behind.WE ARE Innovators. WE ARE Onchain writers.We love to be defined. And if we do not define ourselves, others will do that for us.
And we must avoid this trap at all costs, right?But here is the real trap: these carefully constructed identities aren't the safe havens we pretend they are. They are just fancier prisons.We carry the heavy burden of what formed us everywhere. We think that just by entering a new space full of promises, we can erase the past. But patterns are much deeper than just deciding to change our haircut because we found a cool hair salon one day.With the emergence of the Internet, we slowly yet surely changed the format of how we define ourselves. The substance never changed. Instead of calling ourselves "writer", it became “online writer”, then "onchain writer".
We keep dancing for the eyes of others. Yes, the dance changed but we are still screaming inside."When will i get seen just for being me?"
I need to perform. Faster. Better. Better THAN THEM. Keep dancing until you collapse, keep posting until you matter, keep building your brand until you die.This concept becomes terrifying when everything is forever onchain. Every desperate attempt at relevance, every moment of dancing for validation. If our ego directs the way we express ourselves, aren't we just constructing museums of our own limitations?When our identities become public & traceable, we are given the chance to truly think if we want to be forever defined by them. Will these permanent records of momentary choices become a weapon against our ability to change anytime we choose to, or will we reject these newfound rules altogether?# Digital performance of AuthenticityLaura put on the performance of being perfect. Behind the surface, she was experiencing immense horrors and trauma. She was indulging in multiple self-destructive behaviors to cope. The performance only made her struggles worse, and the need to self-soothe in harmful ways even bigger.This brings us to the cost of permanent performance.
We perfectly curate our PFP, our ENS names, and our onchain personas. Isn't it very convenient to surgically curate our digital presence and expression and call it personal branding?It's so ironic how we are still replicating Web2 dynamics, yet we are sooo disguised by them.
Here is the uncomfortable truth: Web2 and Web3 is like looking at a mirror.
Same psychological habits, same curated performance - different exterior. We've created decentralized technology to serve our centralized egos.We are living the ultimate paradox - we are writing for eternity while being trapped in temporal personas. We perform "authenticity". Isn't it sooo on brand?
This way, we never have to face our true authenticity. We never have to expose our true essence to the world, and even better, we won't have to be judged for it. Because this is our worst nightmare. How can we cope with someone judging what we TRULY are, if we are still operating from fear?
We cannot escape consequences; we can only choose which ones are worth experiencing.Permanence seems to reinforce our entrapment into these "authentic" masks even more.
These masks never come off; their fragments are documented and held for an eternity.
This costume will forever stay intact for future readers.There is a positive side to this: we can alchemize those timestamped triggers since we can't escape them. We can see them as an opportunity to face them, accept them. Do our digital shadow work.# Hide & Seek: Personal UnconsciousThe Twin Peaks' horrors were kept private. It was of ultimate importance to stay covert, or else the perfect crafted image of what Twin's Peak is would crumble in an instant.Similarly, there is a gap between public blockchain writing & private thoughts.
Between drafts & published onchain expressions.On one hand, public writing claims transparency and honesty above all. Is that really what is happening, though?We may try to curate our words and feel satisfied with what we shared, but most importantly, feel safe with what we didn't share. Yet there is a failure to witness that every chosen word communicates clues about what we chose to keep in the shadows.The perfectly curated thread about "vulnerability" that never mentions our actual struggles. The inspirational posts about "building in public" that hide our private doubts. The celebrational tweets that mask our impostor syndrome.We are creating a selective fossil record of consciousness - all polished and zero behind the scenes. But shadows don't disappear just because we don't document them. They influence every word we choose to share, every story we decide to tell. Any future reader will be able to read behind the noise. We can't hide the truth that the silences speak in between.# The dark side of Permanent RecordsIn Twin Peaks, Bob represented the unintegrated collective shadow. It possessed the whole community at different stages and in multiple ways. The starkest example is Laura Palmer's father, Leland, the man who, on the one hand, seemed to love his daughter, but in the end, he was secretly abusing her.Similarly, the blockchain culture has not matured yet to a point to make an effort to integrate its shadow. May i say, it refuses it all together when it is faced with any evidence.
It has made the unconscious decision to carry society's patterns in it, turning them into blockchain cultural destructive rituals: the influencer who preaches mental health while privately struggling with addiction; the "authentic" founder who weaponizes their trauma for marketing; the community leader who uses permanence as a tool of control, threatening to 'expose' those who challenge them.When shadow-driven writing becomes permanent, we are not just indulging in self-destructive tendencies; we are actively contributing to our shared refusal to grow. We are further perpetuating a fate that reflects our current collective state of evolution.# Romanticized ImmortalityA major theme in Twin Peaks is mysticism. Events & experiences that cannot be explained by logic only. Many characters romanticized these events as a way to cope with both the fear of the unknown that the logical mind was faced with, but also to reject the inner voice that knew the truth.There is a similar romantic element in how we perceive the space we are in. We speak of "building the future" of “decentralized utopia", of 'revolutionary technology.” We project our deepest yearnings onto the code and consensus mechanisms because doing the actual work is much harder. Because admitting that these are projections that harm us instead of a utopic paradise is painful.We love to think that writing onchain correlates with the "message in a bottle" narrative. This not only indicates a constructed romanticized view around the future, but the inability to truly see that there is no way to predict this outcome, that we are not in control, and never will be. A way to feel more important than the fact that we are just humans.An attempt at immortality - but one that feeds on the present to sustain and imagined fate. A vampiric fairytale where we sacrifice our current psychological growth for the fantasy of eternal relevance.Sure, we may be writing love letters to future civilizations. They may be in awe. But they might also be disappointed.
There is also a high possibility that we might be writing these for an 'audience' that may never understand our language.
Our anima's desire for eternal connection through onchain writing might be humanity's last desperate attempt at immortality through artificial means, rather than consciousness.# Blockchain as Externalized PsycheThe Red Room in Twin Peaks was the way to express & materialize the collective unconscious.
The Giant's cryptic wisdom, the weird dancing of The Arm, the reverse talking. Nothing really made sense. Someone could call it a fever dream. Cooper's perception of himself made him believe he would be the one to solve the mystery, yet he failed to do so as he was too attached to the Savior archetype, for his own demise. He was too self-absorbed to realize his actions were never about saving Laura and helping the collective good of Twin Peaks.This might seem like a wild correlation, but we are living in a similar situation. Blockchain technology is innovative, cutting edge, and year by year it advances faster and better.
But have we ever sat to question ourselves, is this harmonic?
Are we also growing in the same way, at the same pace? Maybe we are pretending to do so.
Are we doing the work to aid and purify our psyche, so that the effects of that effort will ripple out to the collective?We are forcing an externalization of collective memory. To correctly externalize this, all the gears must be in perfect condition, lubed, and working in synergy to achieve this common goal.
We are trying to artificially induce a technological birth before our psychological development is mature enough to handle it. It's like trying to give birth at 3 months - the baby can't survive because its essential organs haven't developed yet. The fate of this child is unfortunate.Our biggest obstacle is our refusal to move beyond individual authorship, because we lack the information to understand that we are all channeling our thoughts from a bigger force.When writing becomes permanent & collective, who is the real author? The individual, the algorithm, the collective unconscious itself? God?# Integration is a choiceNow, i know my words may seem pessimistic at first glance.
My intention is to delve into the crevices of what we miss, of what is really happening behind the curtains of the show. If we don't know where our trash is, how can we throw it out and clean the house?Knowledge is power, even if that knowledge hurts. Change can only happen through this knowledge and through developing our consciousness.Even in Twin Peaks, there were moments of genuine integration. Taking into account the community's overall failure in doing so, i think this antithesis was quite important to exist.Similarly, i invite you not to lose hope in humanity due to our faults and errors, but rather see that little light coming from the crevice of the dark room and make the decision to open the door and let the light fully in. It's only natural to carry past patterns into something new. We do have the choice to make an active effort to acknowledge them instead of digging them deeper, and to go through the process of individuation.I invite you to ask yourself, "What would genuine integrated onchain culture & writing can look like?"Can we evolve beyond individualism and ego-driven participation in our culture and writing, to genuinely collectively make meaning?When our writing outlives us, what legacy are we creating? How does it feel, how does it taste? Does it resonate with integration & faith, or does it echo with the minor keys of our unresolved trauma?# Which side of history do you want to be on?Twin Peaks is a cautionary tale about communities that never achieve integration.Can onchain writing facilitate genuine psychological transformation, or does it simply make our mental issues immortal?Every word we write onchain is a vote for the kind of future consciousness we want to create. Are we building tools for human emotional evolution, or are we creating permanent proof of our stunted growth?Choosing integration means pausing before you post to ask: Am I writing this from ego or truth? Am I performing authenticity or expressing it? It means embracing the discomfort of being genuinely seen rather than perfectly curated.[#writeonchain](#writeonchain)

Happy Saturday ✨ our first EP of Chronically Cubed is out, onchain on @lens@kayakiko and me always have great convos, and recording them and sharing them with you has been something we wanted to do for ages! We both have been wanting to express ourselves this way, and although this is unfamiliar and sometimes nerve-wracking, we thought that together we can help each other embrace who we are. This is not just a podcast, its two friends empowering each other.
