Step-by-Step Instructions for Songchain ParticipantsStep 1: Download the Reference File Every participant must begin by downloading the reference file, referred to as the "Karo" file. This file acts as the shared foundation for all contributions.Step 2: Set Up Your DAW Session Create a new DAW session using the specific project standard settings: 24-bit and 48 kHz. Ensure that the tempo matches the one defined within the Karo file so that all recorded layers are technically compatible from the very start.Step 3: Record Your Part and Align to the Grid Record your musical contribution within the Karo file's session. It is non-negotiable that the start of the session must be anchored to the grid. The grid serves as the universal synchronization point for all contributors, and without this alignment, individual tracks cannot be properly combined during the mixing phase.Step 4: Export Your Individual Track Export your own recorded part as a WAV file (24-bit, 48 kHz). This export must begin from the absolute start of the session (not from your first note) and must be exported with no mastering applied.Step 5: Export the Remaining Tracks Any additional tracks that are present in the session must also be exported individually as separate WAV files (24-bit, 48 kHz). Just like your own recording, these exports must also start from the beginning of the session and have absolutely no mastering applied.Step 6: Export a Full MP3 Mix Create a full stereo mix (sum) of the entire piece, making sure to include your newly recorded tracks. Export this full mix as an MP3 file. For this file only, you should apply your own mix and mastering in order to present your artistic vision to the project team.Step 7: Upload Your Files Once all of the above exports are complete, upload all the files to the designated location specified by the project. This finalizes your delivery and makes your work available for integration into the larger Songchain project.
