this is such a lit song
happy to hear final version, def we will continue this , and we will back after Easter with new ideas
it was fun, would be cool to let people vote who makes the first layer too on next editions!
This was absolutely a great experience and I think the song turned out great. For me, being the first to add a layer it felt like sailing uncharted waters. What was hard? Understanding the expectations and how I could add to the song while leaving a way for the next artist to build on top of it. What was confusing? When first discussing the concept it seemed pretty straight forward but once I received the vocal track and started working on it, the 72 hour deadline begins. During that 72 hours there were posts clarifying some of the questions. This made me doubt what I was playing a few times. I went from a rhythm to lead, back to just rhythm, then to a rhythm with a lead layered over at the end of it. I submitted the complete layer and it yielded the public video post informing me that playing rhythm with the lead using the same instrument was not following the rule of one weapon. I was asked to resubmit using just the strumming rhythm. So my role and the meaning of just one instrument was confusing. What brought me the most joy? Besides having the opportunity to be a part of the project, it was hearing each layer being added one by one and then the final result.I would change the communication and clarity, but those are things that get better over time by trial and error. It would have been cool to have a place where I could talk with the other artists to understand what each one intended on contributing. Yes I could have reached out on
@orb but time zones make it difficult and long text on a phone is painstaking especially since we are all recording and editing on a PC/laptop. Having to record and edit then move the files to mobile device just to share is time consuming and frustrating if any quality is lost. This is where a desktop version of Orb would benefit in so many ways.
