Excited to start (finally) sharing on here… I always find it interesting looking back at moments of my life to see where certain experiences heavily influenced or impacted my trajectory today. Growing up I didn't have much, my mom worked holidays, nights and weekends. My dad was absent for the majority of my childhood, no siblings and strangers across the globe from the internet were some of my best friends. I never really had access to the latest technology, from phones to computers or game consoles, so I'd always have to go to friends places with wealthier backgrounds who had the latest and greatest new console, trending game or new toys. That ended up introducing me to virtual worlds that changed my life forever (MMORPG's like Everquest, World of Warcraft) and more. Which then resulted in me having the top character of 4million players on my server, and a top 3 guild/community of 500+ members. This dramatically accelerated my leadership skills, refined my communication, expanded my vocabulary and truly expanded the box and heightened the ceilings around how i've seen the world and operated ever since. It literally forced me to learn management skills, risk assessment, organic community building, how to rally people around a specific goal, how to keep team morale high and people excited and motivated to keep showing up. It introduced me to web design and graphic design as I'd build message boards and websites alongside create assets. It also taught me the basics of generating revenue outside of hustling weed, mixtapes, shirts, candies & snacks at my school. All of this under the age of 18. Now to say that the experience was all healthy and everything that glitters was gold would be a lie. I saw a lot of friends form extremely unhealthy habits. Physically, Mentally and even Emotionally and Financially. The cracks began to show when I started to see what the addictive nature of these games caused. Whether that was fighting, depression, shortened attention spans, sleep deprivation, failing in school etc. It all kinda comes back around when I process social media and look at UI/UX (user interface/experiences) of these new apps today.
